Still seeing tailers?

Curious to know if anyone is still targeting reds in the flats? I am think of going in the AM. I just haven’t seen any reports lately.

Thanks
GC

Went Saturday morning near Sullivan’s. Saw several, but most were already in their cruising mode. I actually prefer those over the hardcore tailers. I have a better hookup ratio when I can find the cruisers or grass bullies, you know the ones that just shove the grass out of their way. That’s a fish that’ll eat!

The reds are in the grass year round, they might not be actively tailing, but they are there. The activity certainly slows down in the cooler months though. I’ve caught reds on the flats February through late November… I’m too much of a wuss to try it December and January.

Beaufort reds were cruising and tailing in their normal shallow places Saturday. I have found that when the water temps. drop below 65, things slow down significantly. They will still get in the grass, but not forage nearly as aggressively. Water temps. Saturday were around 70 in the early morning. They were eating everything that moved!

acceptance is the 1st step. now we’re getting somewhere.

The couple of reds I cleaned Friday had bellies bulging with fiddlers. They been tailing for sure.

killing & eating redfish. GASP! cue the haters

They committed suicide by impaling themselves on hooks. I had no choice but to take them home. It was what they wanted.

Thanks guys. I went out to a new flat and they were there…actively tailing. Saw 6 tails. One hook up, and as I turn to ask my buddy if Go Pro is running, my grub comes flying over my head. Tried OTF to the others but to no avail. One of the coolest things to see was what seemed to be a 27-28" red just cruising this one patch of mud. Water was extremely clear. No grass was on this particular spot. I cast a grub past him, slowly reel it in front of him, then he just basically nose bumped it. How or why he didn’t take it will probably haunt me forever. It was really cool to see how he reacted. Makes me wonder how many fish in deeper waters, that I can’t see, are reacting to artificial.

Sorry we can’t take your word for it. Exactly where is this flat? GPS coordinates will do fine.
