Sting Rays and Cobia

My wife caught a pretty large ray today in the harbor. Once we got it to the boat i noticed a fish which looked to me to be a small Cobia swimming with it. Can my guess be correct? Do cobia swim with sting rays and would there be one in the harbor at this time of year?

It’s called a shark sucker, very similar to a remora

Cobia will swim with rays, it’s very common.

cobia are very curious fish. sometimes when reeling in a cobia, one or two other cobias may follow it up to the boat.
