This may be a dumb question, but this Saturday when I was fishing with my father, we both noticed a lot of what was a mild to moderate stinging goo/slime on the anchor chain and the leaders of our bottom fishing rigs when we were fishing the jetties/grillage. What was that stuff. The sting was anywhere from barely noticeable to down right uncomfortable (but not debilitating or anything). Is it some slime from jelly fish (we did notice a lot of jelly fish in the water) or something else?
I had the same thing out at the jetties as well. Got some on my leg and it was definitely noticeable for 15-20 minutes. Noticed that it tended to stick more on the braid than mono. Lots of jelly fish around the boat so that’s what we assume it was as well.

Most people would probably think so But I can relate to that. Pluff mud smells like home, jellyfish in the mouth feels like home. Got to pay your dues.
