Went out today and didn’t have much luck but I tore up the rays. I mentioned this to my neighbor while we were talking while I was rinsing the boat off. He asked if I kept them and told him no. He said he would take all I can catch. I’m assuming he is eating them, idk. We come from very different “backgrounds” and he eats and does some things I would consider odd. Whatever floats his boat(pun intended).
My question. Is there a size/limit on rays? I can’t find anything on the DNR site. I’ll gladly give them to him but I want to make sure I’m not doing anything illegal.

Thanks. Looks like he will be getting all the rays I catch.

There are no size or creel limit on sting rays.
I suggest that when you catch one ane go to keep it, get a sharp knife and cut the entire tail off just above the stinger. The sting from that thing hurts even after they are dead and you accidentilly stick yourself while digging through your cooler getting them or anything else out.
Just my two cents.

Anyone ever use cut stingray for bait? I have once before… with absolutely no results, but just curious?

They use live whole one for goliath grouper in FL. I heard they make good shark bait but not sure where i heard it. I think it was on tv. i have never used them though.

Last post here was 2012. Has there been any updates to Stingray regulations? Size/Creel limits? Thanks
Some of the shark fishermen use them for large sharks and apparently they work very well.

I know they use them for bait. I’m wondering if there is any regulations with a size/creel limit?
the answer to size/limit is no. I think size and creel limit generally pertains to targeted species and ones that have or could be overfished. I don’t’ think stingrays or skates are overfished and rarely are targeted. They are also PLENTIFUL! you can’t help but catch them.

Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!
