My 2004 J14 Carolina Skiff was stolen off of Harbor View Rd on James Island by the Harris Teeter while I had it up for sale. The motor was a tiller 2001 electric start 25hp yamaha. The decals are after market on the motor and will look very different from the ones you see on newer motors.
It will also have a circular metal disc mounted on the bow where I would normally have the trolling motor mounted. And there are also three square pieces of metal, one in the center of the bow and the other two on the bench seat where the removable seats would go.
There is also a generic white rod holder mounted to the inside that holds 4 rods and a single stainless steel flush mounting rod holder on the bow.
Finally there is a small console mounted to the side where the GPS/Depth finder would have gone. The unit won’t be there but the cables will.
If you see this boat around PLEASE call me (843-991-4587) or message me here or notify the police. I am currently out around $3k and may have to sell the boat I just bought now thanks to some ass hole!!!
That sucks man! Do you have any pictures of it you can post? I’m helping a friend shop for a similar boat so I’ll be combing through craigslist and will keep my eyes open.
Sorry to say this but I have never heard of anyone getting there stolen stuff back or even a follow up call from the police department, mopeds, trailers, jet skis, boats bikes, dirt bikes, street bikes, engines, guns etc… The worst is if you have something really common like your J 14 with a 25 tiller, easy to change/work on, lots around this region which makes the titling situation a lot easier and being a small backwater creek boat decreases the odds of DNR seeing them on the water. If they chop shop it and take the identification numbers off, even if you know it is yours you won’t be able to get it back. My friend had a race bike stolen with a nearly one of a kind custom engine and they found it in a chop shop with half a million dollars worth of bikes and parts with the numbers filled and almost none off the goods could be returned because of the identification numbers where gone. Yeah it sucks that anyone with a socket set can steal your boat/trailer, when I sold my boats I didn’t even like having all the “craiglisters” come to my house. The best thing you can do is put the word out there. Did you check to see if it got towed because there was a tow truck there the other day and it looked like it was going to tow one of the boats.

Here is a first for you!! I had a pistol stolen out of my truck. Had serial number and gave it to police. Two days later I got a call and they had recovered my pistol along with a couple others. Two punk kids checking for unlocked car/truck doors and stealing what they could. End of an era for me. I now lock everything.
THAT is why you always report stuff. Whether you think LE will really try to find the criminal or not, sometimes stranger things happen. Years ago my wife’s (GF at the time) car was broken into. They tore up the stereo trying to get it out. She wasn’t going to report it but I made her. A few months later, two turds got caught breaking into cars. One ratted out the other and they admitted to breaking into cars all over the apartment complex over the last few months. They had to pay restitution.
“Apathy is the Glove into Which Evil Slips It’s Hand”, but really, who cares?
Had a dump trailer stolen from my storage yard in Summerville. Reported it and about three weeks later the officer found it at money man pawn on 17. The people at money man are bad actors when it comes to being surprised it was stolen. They had it in the back lot hidden behind a cargo trailer… only gave the guy 500 bucks for a almost new 14000.00 dump trailer…
