PENN 450 and PENN 550 Rods stolen out of my car in downtown Charleston. REALLY bummed about it, just got into inshore fishing this past fall and this is just really tough to swallow. I will be all out vigilante mode looking out for these, especially on the downtown fishing spots…call me Charles Bronson.
The Penn 550 is on a 7 ft. rod from StrikeZone tackle shop in Jacksonville.
If anyone has any leads I would REALLY appreciate it. I have been visiting this site for a while now and it really seems like a solid community so I thought I would put this out there.
Sorry to hear that, man. Sucks that we have to work for what we have and then worry about lowlifes who have no standards. Do your rods and/or reels have any markings or etchings (or some other type of identifiable characteristic) on them? You may also wanna check the local pawn shops. As I’m sure you’re aware, getting them back is a longshot, but you never know. Good luck…
Bummer, did they break in? I would check the local pawn shops but unfortunately, you have probably seen the last of them. Some low-life obviously felt he needed them more than you. Sorry it happened.
Thanks for the comments guys unfortunately there are no defining marks or etchings. The PENN 550 has “Strikezone Tackle Shop” written on it. I have been keeping an eye on Craigslist and will frequent the pawn shops in the area. Thanks again guys!
One more thing to think about-people who steal generally aren’t the smartest individuals, so there’s a better-than-average chance that your outfits will be rigged EXACTLY as they were when they were taken. Pass this information onto the people you talk to at the pawn shops.
Just replaced some of my gear. Have a rod and reel in the 4500 size range. Be happy to give you one to ease the pain. Shoot me a pm. I am downtown all the time van meet up with you somewhere.
These are all great tips guys and I want to thank you again for your input. I did file a police report but I am not holding my breath there. I have a funny feeling I might come across those rods one day but until then…
Bummer to hear about your bad experience and loss. Thanks for the heads up. I need to pick up all new gear, and will now figure a way to mark my equipment, so I do appreciate the post and warning. Good luck getting it back.
Many go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.
One more thing as well make sure you have the serial numbers written down. The officer told me there is a database they use that references the serial numbers and makes retrieving stolen items more of a possibility. Thanks again guys!
I live near the Money Man on ji and will be glad to check there for ya. If you have a picture post it up and I’ll print it off and take it up there to them. Last year someone stole my gore tex insulated overalls and deer hunting bag w all kinds of stuff in it from my truck while in Ga on a hunting trip. It had a knife my late uncle gave me in it and i am still upset about it.Luckily my guns were inside of my buddy’s house though. A week before that, I thought i had lost my wallet but someone had stolen it from my truck while it was warming up in my driveway. Yep, in the morning right before i was leaving for work(something these low lifes know nothing about). A few days later Charleston Pd calls saying they caught a guy breaking into a house and he had my credit cards in his pocket. Moral of the story-I cant stand a thief. Sorry to hear this man and i hope you recover you belongings.
Yea, Andi that is a class act.
I’d rather be a free man in my grave than living as a puppet or a slave.
