Took almost an hour to round South Beach. Could not have gone w/out radar. The seas were confused to say the least. 3-4’ w/ the occasional 5’ thrown in for good measure. Doesn’t look like it, but you know how that goes.
The fog disappated about 15 miles off. It was tricky running into a decent tight sea that you couldn’t see. Hit a new area that I had marked while running in one day. We fished there b/c of the sea state and could only make 20-22MPH and had to pull it back every so often for the bigger sets. We were rewarded with a few ARS and boatloads of bsb, no grouper though.
Bad Apple got a personal best.
I managed a few myself.
Was greeted by pea soup a few miles off on the return trip, but cleared for the final run up the river.
I would like to add that due to the rougher conditions my fuel burn(the gauge is off a bit) would normally show a 45-50 gallon burn for this area. Today it was 75 gallons- a full 50% more due to the sea state.
John probably measured and weighed the fish. My guess is 31" and 22#. For the record.
great job considering the weather.courtland,i’am off saturday give me a shout if your headed out.pole dancer is out of comission for a few days.i would like to get out before the panama trip.
What a fight! Unfortunately I was rushed last night and did’nt get a chance to weigh it. Each filet was too big to fit into a 1 gallon freezer bag. Courtland, thanks for putting us on the big ones…again.
IF</font id=“size3”></font id=“Impact”> that had of been your tourney-day fishing you would have “Won” second place. Not trying to stir up anything:wink:, but you did kick Phin’s teams’ butts pretty good.
Thats all I’m saying.
Even if Phin got to count his two days and add in that giant gag that was hiding under dink CB’s in a laundry basket, you still won second, hands down.
That has got to count for something, right?
Nice going team Courtland on a solid second place win.
Please tell us how many, exactly, grouper and snapper you caught on the day which you brag of.
