3 groupa
2 Snappa
AJ’s and the usuals
3 kts. of current chaced us off, 20 oz. wouldn’t hold. Tough day, but fish in the box.
Still sounds like a good day can’t wait to get back out expecting a baby girl any time now so fishing isn’t in the forecast

Ok EF, here is the whole story:
Left the dock at 4. 3 of us on the boat. Rolled up on a bait spot in 90’ around 5:30. Seas were 1-2’ w/ a breeze out of the SW. The screen was lit but no luck on squid tipped sabiki’s. Since I had rounded up a few dozen mullet, we decided to press on to R-8 in 130’ to jig cigars at sunup. The boys were jigging bait so I wrestled a few bo-bo’s on a jig until we decided to move on , with no cigars. About a mile from my #‘s in 200’ we hit a rip, 4 degrees, color change, schools of skippies around, sunfish, the real deal. The problem was the water was pushing so hard from the south that at rest, I was reading 3MPH on the GPS, it was ripping. Great news if we were trolling, not so for bottom bumping. We picked a few fish then decided to head 7 miles North to some #‘s in 220’. The rip stayed of my starboard side for about 4 miles, then we went through it again into the cooler side(1MPH of current). We got to the spot and could see that the water was coming fast. First drop I hook a fish, good one I thought, get about 10 cranks on him, think I’m safe, take a breathe, must have realized the new jewelry in his face and goes for it, 33# of drag straight down 40’ into the rocks, POP, braid shreds. I haven’t caught real big grouper before, but that fish would have been a personal best for sure, and I could tell from the pull it was not a bo-bo. The other boys get a fish or two then the rip ran us down. Back to 20 oz. not even hitting bottom.
OK, we need to anchor to make this work. My danforth(for boats up to 35’) goes over with 600’ of line, doesn’t stick. I float it with the ball and swap it for my wreck anchor(16# mighty mite). Get on a spot and get a red grouper, but we are a bit off. The current and cross wind and 220’ of water make a few attempts neccessary. Go again and it doesn’t stick, try one more time, no luck. F-it, let’s float it and I’ll hold the boat in position with the motors. Get the mighty mite up and 2 tines are missing and two are cracked… Unshackle it and add it
Great job CT,No pics?

I’m looking, but not seeing.
Had to find a stamp. Ought to be there now.
There must be a casting problem with the 16 lbers, we broke two tines off of Kyles anchor last week, and I have twisted OTM’s in to a candy cane more than I care to count with out them breaking. Charleston Marine is going to get it replacer under the lifetime warranty.
