Fished the Sow Pen with Marsh Monkey, David(why don’t you have electric reels)Hahn and Will(the photographer) Guscio. Lines in at 7:15 in 200’ and 73.5 water. Not much life so we pushed out to where the last satellite photo had the break. Found a good rip with scattered weeds in 350-400’. Had all the dolphin we wanted by 10 AM, plus we ran out of bait. We were bottom bumping by 10:30 in 220’. Did well on the bottom, not great. Couldn’t keep the endangered pinkies off the hooks. Got another dolphin that swam a little to close to the boat while bottom fishing.
Had a few first’s on the boat today:
-Marsh Monkey’s first ever mahi(he did get the biggest of the day as well)
-David’s first trigger(he actually reeled one in from 220’ that had the hook wedged between it’s two front teeth)
-Will’s first grouper(little scamp)
- the boat’s first parrot fish(I think), definetly a fish I had never caught on the boat before
Some of the fleet was struggling today so I called them in the coordinates to the mahi’s(when we were done of course). I know a few of them were able to put a couple in the box. Hope you return the favor one day. With all of us dumping big $$$ on go juice we should help each other out.
Back at the dock by 4-ish for a first grade chior recital. Thanks to the crew for pretending to sleep while I was going 40 through the 20kt. SW that came up on the ride in.
Totals:
12 grown Mahi(to the low 20’s)
10-12 B-liners
6 triggers
2 scamps
