Hoped the 3AM buoy reports were wrong. 3x3’s @ Edisto, 4x4’s @ Gray’s. They weren’t. Headed slow into the washing machine till we were about 15 miles off. Wanted to press on as the forecast was for a bit of a lay down. The lightening started shortly thereafter and we were back on the beach waiting for sun-up and the pogies to start flipping. Made bait and still hoped for a lay down once the sun got up. Didn’t happen! Bumped the nearshore reefs and headed back in around 1PM. Very disappointing with all the ballyhoo and big guns ready to go. Got a few snapper, short gag, buch of bsb, spanish and fought some nasty cudas. Made the right choice as the fan was never turned off. Maybe next time.
sounds like you made the most of it. take long to find bait?
might as well be dead up here if i cant find that live bottom
Bait wasn’t easy, but it was there. Throwing by sonar instead of pelicans and little flips always takes longer.
Courtland, which beach are you catching bait off?? I’m new to the area, so still trying to find my way around. Edisto ??
fishrgolfr-Hilton Head, usually between The Monarch and PD. You can e-mail me through the site if it would help.
