Long ride today in search of the fishies. Started in 120’ with tons of flyers and a super slick ocean(to slick I think). Nothing by the time we hit 150’, so we picked up and headed towards our bottom spots in hopes of finding a rip/weedline, etc… Found it in 190’ and had a few good runs with the mahi. At one point we had a school of over 100 under/circling the boat for 1/2 hour. Jumped a hoo and gave a cuda a new blowhole, then hit the bottom after the line we were fishing faded away.
Bottom was slow for us deep. A few big b-liners, a good scamp and pinkies. Moved into a wreck in 125’ and put a good ARS in the box, got another scamp and more b-liners along with the usual trash.
Two of my crew were total newbies, so although it was a bit slow they brought up moral due to everything being new to them. Turtles, sharks, flyers and all the other cool stuff we tend to overlook. Still brought home some groceries and had a good day.
