Put in around 140’ near R-8. Worked NE towards The Deli. No bait, no flyers and no fish. Three cudas and a king and none of them over 175’. Worked out to 220’ or so then dropped some bottom with moderate success. No breaks or weeds anywhere that we saw. A school of sharks stayed with the boat for the three or so hours that we bottom fished and the only birds we saw were looking for scraps off the bait tray. Glad we got what we did.

Another great day on the water aboard the STONER. I experimented with two new things. Both were a bust. First was the Lucanus jigging lures, which did catch the secrete bait of the day but other than that not much to it. Also tried a 12’ leader in 200’ of water. I am sure that most can imagine how that turned out.
Looking forward to some cooler weather and better fishing!

MC: Likely too much current and wind moving the boat to experiment with that rig. It came back up in one big tangle. Would like to try it again under better conditions. Have you used a leader that big before?
