Been on the hill with vacation and a screw in my ankle. Pre-fished the Beaufort BMI(friday), skipped the tournament and fun- fished Sat., took my son out on Monday and just got back in today ahead of the slow moving squall line. I have changed my fishing a bit and am spending a bit more time on the anchor, we are really having a blast. Chicken rigging, live baiting(drift rigs), and big baits on the bottom. I didn’t fish more than 100’ on any day.
My new OTI(400g) and Accurate BX2-600 have been spanking the big gags. Boated 2 internet 30#er’s along with limits on the other days. Many ARS met there maker as well with limits on 3 of the 4 trips. B-liners are thick, and good size ones for that depth. For those of you that wear gold chains, many mercury missiles including 4 kings over 30# and a daymaker over 40# were brought boatside(of course this one was caught on tournament day after we decided not to fish, Murphy’s Law in full effect.
