hit the spot late this morning.tide was already turned heading out.got to see some oyster beds/cover that i didnt know was there,so this was good.now to the fishing:i caught about 6 or 7 trout,but they were all dinks.all were caught with leadhead 1/4 and electric chicken.also caught 4 spottail,1 27 in.,1 22 in.which is in the pic. and 2 that were just about 15 in.all spottails except the one was released.all dinks were released also.all these were caught on my light jig rod with sufix 10lb test.i love that line.the 2 biggest spottails tested it and it passed.water was very calm,with a light breeze.also saw guys right at landing catchin plenty of shrimp.my little tackle box gets smaller and smaller the more i go.so far on the stono as far as lures that have worked:spook jr silver/black and one generic green grub,and my saltwater assassins white and electric chicken.throw some bottom rig stuff in there with a popper for shrimp or minnows,my mirrolures, and thats all i think i will ever need.fun day.wife is cookin fish now,she will post it for me in a little bit.
yeah,i should have written that better.everything was caught on a 1/4 leadhead jig with saltwater assassin electric chicken.the big one on the 10lb test spooled about 30 or 40 yds before i could even work on em.the one in the pic also put up a heck of a fight.
man,i found another shellbed thats loaded with fish until water gets real low.i could see em swimmin around it.ill show it to you if you havent already fished yourself.you probably have.i didnt even know it was there.wish i could have got a pic of the big one.
my wife aint given up that camera,so im stuck taken pics of the keepers only for now.see you saturday.ill stay out of your way since your gonna be tourney fishin and all.
Willy ~ Nice fish. It’s always great to log on and see new posts of people tearin the fish up. It’s even better when, as you said, it’s one of your fishin buddies. Good job man, we’ll have to get up soon. Hung out w/phatcaster and a couple of his fishin pals all afternoon yesterday and learned some stuff about flounder fishing:smiley:. I didn’t get a fish but I watched several nice ones pulled.
Have you tried the Bass Assassin “Albino Firetale”? It’s an irridecent purple and cream with a red tail. Before I stopped getting hits on plastics up at Folly those were working better than “the chicken”.
