Fished south of Limehouse for the entire dropping tide with my son and a coworker. Started at high looking for trout and finally found one in Stonoman’s creek. By then the water was dropping enough out of the marsh to load up on bait and headed over to a spot that both trout and reds like. Only reds today with 6 slot fish, 1 over, and 2 break offs. Tried one more spot further south then back to some docks. Picked away at the reds with the biggest fish of 30" coming on a large pinfish. We were about ready to leave when I saw a rattle float that was previously up against a piling a few docks up was moving against the current. Got set up and caught a handful of overslot fish as we chased the float back to our original spot. I could not get the fish to eat so I eventually just snagged the float with a DOA and battled an angry 27" fish on trout gear, unhooked it, and sent it on its way. Total for the day was 1 small trout, 1 14" flounder, about 10 slot reds, and 6 reds from 24 to 30". Kept four slot fish for dinner.
When I got home I straightened out the wire on newly aquired rattle float and notice only 8# line tied to the top…I chuckled and thought that was like bringing a knife to a gunfight:smiley:
This is the red that we collected the float from:
