My son and I got on the water at daybreak. Netted some shrimp, mullet and silver perch and headed south from Limehouse. Fished a stretch of shoreline that has been holding fish and they were there busting up bait. Had a couple blowups on topwater then nothing. Fog rolled in and it really shut down the bite. Finally caught a 19" and 25" red on a swimbait about an hour after the incoming.
Moved on to one of our favorites docks. Water was higher than ideal and we soon moved over one dock after seeing reds busting up bait on the back side of a mud bank. Could not get to them, but immediately saw a 10 fish school. Immediately picked up an over slot. Action went dead and was about to leave when a jighead and Z-man combo on my lightest rod casted down along the side of the dock got mugged by an overslot fish. No chance of landing that fish. Started tossing out shrimp and silver perch out on a light carolina rig and picked up 7 more overslot fish. Back at the ramp at noon with a total of 11 reds; one at 19" and all the rest 24-26". 2 fish lost to the dock.
