Got out on the water shortly after sunrise this morning from Limehouse. Fish a bank close by and saw a lot of mullet and a single red in the grass knocking them around. After a few casts trying to get in the heavy grass I see it making its way down the bank and fire off a long cast right in front of it…fish on. Turned out to be a low slot fish, but the skunk was washed off early. Ran up a creek and netted a few dozen shrimp and saw Stonoman go by. Headed back out and said hello and shared some shrimp. Stonoman pointed me up aways for some trout and before long I had caught 5 drifting a glow DOA in the current against some structure.
Headed south and worked a new bank and saw a few fish. Missed two hits on a Zman Paddlerz and watched a dolphin destroy a few reds. Stopped at the hot dock for the last few weeks and it didn’t disappoint. Caught 9 reds; tagged 6 from 16 to 25" and released 3 pigs at 29, 30 and 32.5".
Further south some more to say hello to the school of reds I see every week that refuses to eat and spooks easily. Finished the drift with handful more trout. Came back north, got stopped by DNR and chatted with some friends on the water. Stopped at one more spot for a slot red before loading up on 3 quarts of bait shrimp for the freezer.
Total of 11 reds (8 tagged) and 10 trout all released. Trout were 13-17". Lots of mullet still around and of course shrimp if you know where to look. Back at home and watching some football. Congrats to Joe on your 'Skins beating Baltimore. Given I’m a Pats fan I didn’t mind cheering for an NFC team.
