Stono 3/10

My son and I got out this morning from Limehouse just after 10 AM. We were greeted by some of the highest water I had ever seen. Water temp was 52 and clarity was stained which all added up to me wondering how well we would do. Thankfully 2 dozen fat mudminnows evened the odds a little. After checking out a flat that had water that looked like strong tea we settled on a good producing dock. It took a little time and moving around, but we found some reds. Total of 6 hooked and 5 boated. 2 lower slot, 2 just above slot, and 1 around 30". The two fish that were just over slot were fish that I had tagged already. One from early December and the other from 5 weeks ago. Both had shown some growth. After that we hit multiple other spots only seeing a few pushes an no bites. Can’t wait for a little more warm weather and some bait to turn on the bite.

That’s cool that you caught 2 of your own tags. Good day

Ian…did you have on a floppy hat today? I think we may have seen you. You did a lot better than us…we caught nada…really…but getting ready to post some pics of other things we saw.
Talked to two other people who did the same as us…glad someone caught something!

Yes that was us. I was going to motor up and see how y’all were doing, but you looking pretty serious pitching between the pilings:wink:.

My last trip out in the Stono was a bust with nothing caught. Other than that little bit of action it was a tough day. Last year the bite was in full swing by the 3 week of March.

Iain, don’t tempt the wife and I to head that way haha, it’s the closest landing to our home but we never have any luck that way.

Ever have any luck with the fly up that way ??

Simon, I have done a little bit with the fly with very limited results. I am a still a novice at it. Between the water clarity and the areas I fish being having a lot of current it has been challenging to present the fly well.
