Stono 4/21

Fished the Stono today with TexasRed and my son. I did not fish the SRFC tourney as I had some engagements in the afternoon. We got an early start around 7 to try an catch the tide before it flooded too much of the marsh. Really foggy to begin with and idled to the first stretch of shoreline to toss lures. Saw one fish on the first pass; came back the opposite direction and casted to the clump of flooded grass where we saw it. I hooked up with 32" red on my trout rod and gave it a good workout. Bait was a Z-man Minnowz in Redbone on a 1/4 oz jighead. My son caught one trout in the vacinity and continued to catch trout all day bringing his total to 6. His hot bait was a Z-man Rain Minnow in opening night on a 1/8 oz jighead. Caught a few more trout trolling during the high tide.

The rain minnow is one of my favorite baits. Try the Baby Streak using a 1/8 ounce jig head. It has a little more action in the tail.
