Stono area

Hit my triple secret spot on the Stono hard the last couple days. Incoming tide with MM on Carolina rig, produced nothing Sun. and Mon. Tried again today with frozen shrimp. Got my first trout of the year at just over 14in. Released. Missed a couple more. Beautiful weather we are having.

I was out there too. Pulled one trout on the second cast and that was it. Was fishing minnows on a Carolina Rig about 2 hours or so before low tide.

The best creek right now should be Penny.Marker 28

I fished Penny creek pretty hard Saturday with my daughter, not a bite. Daughter did manage to catch her first trout fishing the docks in the intercoastal. Took her friend out Sunday and she caught her first fish, a trout off the same dock. Went to the redneck riviera and let them run around and play in the sand, had the place to ourselves.

I have had to find new spots this year in the Stono (Limehouse area). Most of my previous spots have been dead since Winter. Frustrating at first, but it forced me to find new ones which have been producing very well.

stonoman, I have never had any luck in that creek. Ever. Ever  Nope wouldn’t even try

hairball, my triple secret spot is walk to. Boat trouble keeping my spots limited. Will be finding new spots asap.

Had two break-offs Mon. at a dock but no fish. Went back Tues. after a line change and had one break my hook in half but pulled three redfish (all keepers) out after that, boom, boom, boom.

If it ain’t broke…let me try!

Stonoman truly is the master of the Stono.

I’m waiting for the light to turn on too. All I’ve heard is the off shore has been incredible and all I keep thinking is the inshore has been so rough (at least for me).

Real skiffs have tillers :o)

Fishing the Stono is difficult.Water is usually stained,Boat traffic is all day long, but if you work at it you can find very good fishing spots.I follow the tide from spot to spot for trout.reds stay put and hang in the same area unless chasing schools of menhaden or fingers move them out.One year i saw reds top feeding on menhaden next to shore.I just looked and thought how strange it was.Reds came out of the water after them.Lasted about 20 minutes then the haden went away from the shore and it was over.I tied on a top dog and hooked up like crazy for over an hour. That happen once and it was about 15 years ago.I keep wishing for a repeat.LOL If you are on the Stono and see my rig just feel free to come over and chat.Fishing is fun if shared with friends.
