Stono - Back in the Groove - 3/25

The day started right at 7:30 AM with an 18" trout (released) on topwater while I was waiting on the mudminnow trap. Back home for a big breafast and take it easy getting the rig ready to go. On the water about noon and made the run towards Wadmalaw Sound. First spot the trout were really hungry, but most all were about 12-14". My friend caught one at 17"+. total of 7 trout with a lot of missed/lost fish. All on gold flake curly tails and 3/8 oz jigheads working a dropoff up to 16’ of water. Hit a few spots heading back to the landing looking for reds. Third spot we started getting them pretty good. 5 fish to the boat; 2 slots and 3 just over the slot. Broke one off and another straightened the hook. MM or dead shrimp under floats. Left them biting and never made it to the honey hole as the weather ran us off. Cleaned the boat in the rain and now it’s sunny again wishing I was back out there.

Great report. Good going out there. Seems when I’ve found the trout lately its the sames thing, hanging near some deeper water.

Is this the limehouse area?

I put in at Limehouse. This last weekend we caught trout all over the river, but typically if I want trout I head to Wadamalaw sound to find cleaner water.
