…by a boat!
The Stono is one of my favorite places to fish…challenging yes…but rewarding too…but it, like most places, comes with certain things that make it really tough… and The stono is notorious for the boat traffic that travels through it. Not having much water for the trafic to maneuver makes for tough fishing for those anchored or trolling along…today was a reminder of just how tough it can be…and my world got rocked just a few times :rolleyes:…most times I managed to keep my feet under me with a little fancy foot work…but one boat made my butt meet the deck…and if you had to compare it to a fish…I’d say it was a flounder:D… a large one…and hurt like heck too!!!.There just wasnt enough time to brace myself when I realized how tough this one was going to be, and as i tried to get the anchor so we wouldnt end up in the oysters and stumps…
But anyhow…despite the boat traffic and gnats that made the first few hours miserable we had a great day on the water…little slow until tide got down. Chased bait for a little while and sadly found very few shrimp where I usually get them…but some nice spot which most folks know Reds love.
Water was pretty “green” for the Stono…not the coffee with cream color it can sometimes be.
Saw a lot of folks out enjoying the day like we did, and despite my “bow butt spanking”…I had a great time! heres a few pics…
