Took youngest son (almost 2) out today for quick outing. Couldn’t even get bait on the second rod before the first one bent over. Had a good time catching some reds and even a black drum. Lost more reds than reeled in due to keeping an eye on the little guy (he’s actually pretty easy but still weary for me when on the water).
Had one brain dead cast that got stuck on something up high but the bait still dangled in the water. Left it for a minute while getting another line out… then the stuck line got nailed. Reeled “up” a red about 26-27" (estimate) but couldn’t get it up and over structure… line broke but fish still hung there suspended (uh-oh)… finally the fish either came unbuttoned or that portion of the line snapped. Glad no one saw because I looked like a jackass. I assure anyone that I would’ve gone over and gotten it undone… please don’t rain peace love animal crap on me. Fish looked like it was “A” Okay.
Incoming tide (about hour after incoming). Structure. Mullet on the bottom. Water temp I believe was 72. Bite stopped when appearance of bait dwindled off. Only out for about 1.5 hrs.
