Stono Inlet users

If you’ve been using the Stono Inlet recently, what route are you taking? Is this the general track you use? Or is it deeper on the south side?

I went out there yesterday afternoon to poke around. It was about 4:30-5:00, dead low was 6:30. This was the route that got me out. Lowest I saw was 3.9’. What I outlined in red was about the shape of the breakers.

The S/SW side is deeper, but I typically come through one of the sloughs on the SE side as you have indicated. There are a couple of them. I quit saving the track line because they do frequently shift.

I thought there would be a small cut up tight behind the bar that’s straight out, but I didn’t find it if it was there.

I have run that inlet for decades by hugging the right side(Kiawah) and hooking right as I come through the inlet staying just outside the beach breakers- then turning directly toward 4KI after clearing the inlet area- never had a problem

interesting how the Stono inlet is very similar to Lighthouse inlet…breakers to the NE and SE of the inlet, with navigable cuts in between them and also to the SW…at least that’s how it was last Fall…

Yeah, not much of an “Inlet” at dead low. Either take a right or a left going out and read the breakers. Coast Guard really made it much more dangerous by removing all the markers last year. I wrote several letters with crickets in return.
