Stono Inlet

Was wondering if anyone has been out of the stono lately? Trying to see if the sand bar has shifted much? I haven’t been out that way in awhile and was going to try it tomorrow morning. I usually always hug the beach then cut over. Just seeing if anything has changed.

Thanks

The last few times we’ve been, we’ve hugged the beach and made the sharp turn to the northeast between the two bars at about the end of Kiawah. I’m guessing that’s what you’re talking about. It’s not deep, but we haven’t had any problems even at low tide.

I too turn port to get out. I have used both ways (port and starboard) but running towards the harbor seems shorter.

This the most up to date maps there is. It is a live interactive map. Mess with the map settinga and it will display the vhannel all marked out with depths. Or look up noaa chart 11520. Both are free services.

Thanks guys. Ya that was the way I usually go. I came back in at dead low tide trying to get back between the storms. Ran my usual route with no problems saw some ppl trying to go through the breakers. Idk why they would do that? But to each there own.
