Stono/Kiawah Area

No sheep worthwhile in the boat yet but did lose a few crabs. Small… not what we’re looking for. In just before the sun came up to get to a spot hoping for a low enough tide but we missed it. Missed one and that was it. Picked up a red on the inlet flats right as we were putting a hand on the anchor line to pick up and move. Ended the trip at a creek where we found reds willing to play but stupid mistakes caused us to miss 3 (bad knots, on phone with wife, drag too tight, too slow to grab pole before red popped off on structure). Not an ideal way to end a trip but was already 2 hours late getting home so the wife was… well… pretty pissed off. So pretty much I’ve been pulling “daddy-duty” the rest of the day. Still worth it! Lessons learned! (not on staying out late but on tying better knots, not answering the wife’s phone call, keep drag slightly loose, and grab the (**() pole!!!)

Mullet and crabs shared all hits & misses.

Help with your issues;

  1. Download an app on your phone on knot tying.
  2. Easy on the beers. This will give you an free hand and quicker reflexes.
  3. Leave the drag dogged down. Use heavier line.
  4. Leave you phone in the truck so the wife cant contact you.

Oh crap. I you follow #4 you will still have knot issues, not to mention #4 is going to turn into a #5.

A wise man once said “Do as I say not as I do” Good advice when I tell you that.

I was about three hours late getting home yesterday. I kept trying to help my buddy catch a red, but it wasn’t meant to be. I took Mrs HoofArded out for dinner and a movie to keep myself out of the doghouse. :face_with_head_bandage:

If you catch fish and learn something, it’s a good trip.

Oops, what would I do without you.

Hoof, great try on digging yourself out of trouble! At the end of the month they’ll consistently be at the deep portion of the docks at any given tide. That’s my favorite time of the year… oh, and when the big sheep start showing up consistently at (**() near every dock!

haha…maybe there should be a “how to console your lady about your fishing habit” part of this forum. When I can catch and cook her a nice dinner, she sees some payoff, I just have to remind her I’m trying to catch her a nice dinner. :imp:
