Stono/Kiawah Area

Got out at sunrise and went straight to the inlet to work creeks and flats. found a nice new little honey hole I’ve been meaning to try but haven’t gotten around to it. Picked up smaller slots one after the other and just when we were about to head to another spot to try for some big dogs we got a nice fight with 25" who got hung up but we motored the boat up to him, unwrapped him, and let swim on.

Plenty of mullet and some shrimp. Had a nice big shrimp that didn’t even hit the bottom and got smacked by a little rat red. Water was cooler. Overcast but dodging some little storms. Can’t remember temp of water. Pretty much fishing structure in creeks and then hit the flats there. Carolina rigs on the bottom. Also caught a bunch of small pompano in the cast net. Have gotten one or two here or there in the past but got a good bit in one throw (tiny though). Also got stung by a (**() jelly fish that fell out of the throw net… “It’s clear dude, just pick it up…”… yeeaaaah…

We went to the same area to catch a few Bonnet Head Sharks today and wound up with a 20lb and 13lb one before 9am, using whole blue crabs that we picked up in Bethune, SC. Funny they probably got shipped a couple times to end up in Bethune and we just hauled the back to Charleston and threw them right back where they came from. We got nailed on the way back with Rain and all but did not care. We wanted to get a few for the freezer. They taste great smoked.

Yeah, we got one decent sized spinner while out in the inlet and some other kind of shark (bigger) was following him in. Made me feel great when I had to wade in the water to get back out to the boat. Some how we lucked out and just missed several heavy isolated showers.
