I was hesitant on going out as it was cold as balls, a steady 10-15 North wind, and my buddy who was supposed to fish with me got sick and had to bail last minute, so I was solo. At any rate, I decided to go out and do some scouting, and see if I saw any affects from all the cold weather, fortunately, I didn’t see a single dead fish. I did; however, hit a couple flats along Kiawah River that typically hold fish, but there was no sign of anything with water temp @ 50* (I’m skeptical on how accurate my depth finder is on water temp).
I decided to head back towards landing and fish a spot on Stono that I had been wanting to check out. Got to the area about 30 minutes before dead low, put trolling motor in the water and motored over, and that was when I finally saw some life. A huge school of reds ranging from 10" to 23"+ scattered. Per the advice of RADDADDY, first cast I threw a 3" soft plastic Sea Striker shad (you can see in last pic) just past the school and drug extremely slowly through the middle of them. Water was very clear, so got to watch a 23" red come up and nail it; second cast, same thing - 22" came up and nailed it. A hand full of casts later lost another roughly 20" red right at the boat as I went to pull out of the water. Likely could have stayed there and caught a few more, but wind was picking up and making it tough, and I had accomplished more than I had originally set out for, so I called it a day. Released all fish to fight another day.
Great report. Thanks! Those baits just don’t hold up or make sense to me during the year. I can see they make sense on a flat in winter, or maybe deep jigging. I just went through too many Fishing regularly.

I bought them from Wal-Mart (not sure why… think I just like the way they looked) a couple years ago and had never even opened them till yesterday. I didn’t put too many miles on them, but the one I used seemed to hold up. Was dragging over oyster shells too.
