stono report 5/19

Left out of limehouse at 12 noon to make an effort to break in the new boat (again since we got skunked before). We were able to castnet some pretty nice size mullet on the stono near the sandbar, and we had a few live crabs thanks to stonoman.

Hit a favorite dock with large chunk of mullet and a 1/2 crab on the bottom. Within 5 minutes we had a 18-19 inch red. We had several knockdowns and one large red that broke me off around a dock piling. After the bite died down a bit, we moved over to another dock down the river a bit.

Within 20 minutes, we had landed 2 birds in our lines thanks to yours truly dropping the corner of a sandwich in the water. After de-tangling them and getting bitten by one ornery old bird, they were free.

The fishing gods looked down on us with favor after freeing our feathered friends with a nice hookup of a 26 inch fat red on our lightest tackle reel. We picked up another 19 incher a few minutes later.

A bit windy, with storms looming but never rained…but overall it was a great day on the water with 2 slot reds and 1 over slot in about 2 hours of fishing (we wont talk about the next 4 hours of skunkage…)
but that made us want to get back on the water this coming weekend!!

No charge for the dock or the crabs.
