Stono report Monday 10/12

Got on the water late today, beginning of outgoing tide. Worked way too hard to get a few dozen shrimp at high tide. The salinity is down in the stono. Something seemed weird, it took me a few casts to figure out what was different… the water isn’t salty! The fish didn’t seem to mind though thankfully. Me and my wife caught more than a dozen redfish, all 15-20", 5 trout 14-17", 1 small black drum. All fish released. Live shrimp under a popping cork was the winner, but I did manage to catch around 5 redfish and 3 trout on trout eye jigheads and zman minnowz swim baits.

I caught this in the cast net, first for me. Is this a big shad?

I believe thats a gizzard shad. Good work with TE jigs

Hell yeah! The popping cork was a bust for me I guess the bait just wasn’t deep enough for me! Lured seemed to do the trick for me

X2 on the Gizzard shad.

Great haul!! You guys are killing me right now!! I’m stuck at work here in Columbia but these reports are increasing the gravitational pull of the salt.

Breaking news… Gravitational pull was too strong to resist. Fishing trip has been scheduled for Monday afternoon and Tuesday.

In other stories…my PTO is about to take a hit.
