Stono report Monday 11/7 - topwater heating up

Caught some redfish and trout on the Stono Monday afternoon. Fished high tide and beginning of outgoing. Struggled to get 3-4 dozen little shrimp for bait at high tide. Water temp was 68-69.

Trout were hitting shrimp under a popping cork and doa and zman swimbaits on trout eye jigheads. Rootbeer/chartreuse tail and new penny were the winners. About half of the trout were keepers

After 4pm I started throwing a top water plug where I was catching trout, but no takers. Then I started working further down a stretch of bank with some oysters covered up by the high tide and found some redfish willing to chase the plug. Caught 3 back to back and missed a few more that didn’t stay hooked up. Redfish were between 16"-24". Lots of bigger mullet were around as the tide started dropping. Had to leave just as things were getting awesome before dark.

Nice report, have not had any luck with topwater plugs but may have to stick with it. Understand that’s some great action. The bite is definitely awesome right now
