Anyone ever shrimped in the stono out near bird key/north end if Kiawah? Any tips for that area?
There is a flat on the left going out just past a small island and before getting to the inlet. The bottom is sandy and hard to stick poles but sometimes holds some nice large shrimp. Also right in front of the small island on the left is a softer bottom that can be good. Been quite a few years since I’ve been over on that side. Main thing is to look at some charts for flats near deeper water, often found just above where a creek comes into the river.

I tried a couple years ago during the day. Nadda. Haven’t tried at night, but that’s sort of a treacherous area to be in at night.
