Fished late this afternoon during the last part of the rising tide. I caught four trout on shrimp under a cork - no real size to any of them all between 13-15inches. The evening maker was a 27 inch red that pulled me all over the river - he was also caught on a shrimp under a cork. Hooked one more (what I think was a BIG red)but I lost him in the grass. If you fish the Stono anytime soon and see a yellow cork being pulled along it is probably that red that broke me off. A ■■■■ good evening afterwork!
If you go down 17 towards Savannah and take a left onto Main Rd it will be down on your left after crossing the Limehouse Bridge. If you are coming from James Island take Maybank Hwy out towards Johns Island then turn right onto River Rd. River Road bisects Main Road - take a right at the light and turn quick right into the landing.
fished the incoming tide on the stono this afternoon out of limehouse landing with mudroc and whtz.armed with 1 trout rod and a container of grubs,i fished a particular area that whtz had told me about.he had had success here recently,so i fished this area pretty much the whole time.after 3 dink trout up to 13 inches,i hooked a whopper under a dock, but couldnt get him out.after a few bluefish,i hooked up with a nice 18 incher on a charcoal grub(curly tail).this spot has promise.i hooked 2 more trout here that i lost right at boat.about this time, whtz hooked into a nice spottail that he landed.i dont know how big it was,but i would say atleast upper slot.earlier where he and mudroc were fishin farther down from me,mudroc landed 2 real nice spottail.i believe they were 4 and 8 pounds.all in all this was a nice afternoon fishin with 2 real good fishermen, and good people too.thanks whtz for the “spots”
ps i think i like the stono…
whtz, youll get sick of be bud.i really enjoyed it,and i think i learned some things from seein you guys fish and paddle the yaks.yall both got some cadillacs in my book.maybe catch up with you next week.(off monday-wednesday).thanks man.
Glad to get up with y’all! It was a great way to end the day!
Is tomorrow to soon, I can put off fixing the lock on my truck for another day:smiley:. The two reds…great, trout…would of been nice, but the Cobia…made my day! Kind of small though.
I just checked the tides for a couple of the good spots and they are looking good for the next few weeks. I’ll check Copahee and see when it will be good to get out there.
Copahee’s out for me this weekend, 15-20kts out of the N and the NE, looks like red fish water in the surf to me:smiley:. Plus(7’ tide and the wind) thats a lot of water in the grass.
