One day We catch 50 trout the next trip out We catch 4.I hate to waste a nice day so i just go fishing.Problem is where i want to go catch fish the tide is wrong. So what do i do ? Sit in a spot and hope a red or trout will come past.Scout other places? We all have spots that produce all the time right?? Problem is in the Stono things can change in a second. That second is when a “Snow Bird” hauls ass past you just as you spot a nice school of reds. The 3 foot wakes are a *****.Muddy water now and the reds hauled ass.Last week the water was clear to 4 feet and we knew the trout were there.Snow Bird blows past wide open and the entire area was a mud bath. The jerk messed up a mile of trout water.Next week i will take some friends out and attempt to find some fish.Maybe the Snow Birds will not show up until the ladies catch some fish.
The colder weather coming should keep them inside for the next week or so. Good that you can vent your frustration.
The Stono seemed muddier on Wednesday than the last couple of times I was out. I caught nothing. But the sun felt just as good on the boat! Sorry about the snow birds.
Headed to metal trades and got in a flat and water was clear to 3 feet.Caught several trout on the elec Chicken on a float slowly dragged over the area. You can not throw a grub in this area. The float allows you to drag a grub maybe 6 inches off the bottom. It worked for us.

by snow bird, do you mean the yankees having no respect for local’s and no idea about etiquette on the water? Just curious as I’ve always know the snowbirds as Up state tourists thinking our cold weather is warm. Guessing we are on the same page?
Sorry for your messed up fishing Mr. Stono. 50 to 4 is a big difference, but in my experience pretty much the normal. Never know from day to day what the fishing will bring.

I wasn’t wot. Jk the worse are the people who slow down right at you and then ride bow high not on plain. They smile and wave thinking they did good but it would of been better if they just did a fly by. I’ve been fishing in the back of James island creek when its 50 air and water and this 50yr old dude wake boarding with his wife driving making 3ftrs for him to jump and doing 180s in the boat were waving happy as can be not even thinking about what they were putting me through they went everywhere I did lost a rod and made like 3 cast over like 3hrs. But it was funny because he sounded like a brat, no hunny go faster and stuff like that he sound like a spoiled kid. I wasn’t to mad because its good to see someone that age living young. Do you ever fish down by the ji airport been seeing lots of boats trolling.

HA! I love your perspective here.
I expect that, by snowbirds, Mr.Hanley meant big boats being ferried down the ICW -identifiable home ports and 4 foot wakes. Most states north require boater safety and a lot of those boats are ferried on the side by guys with a bigger boater safety certificate measured tons. But the ICW is interstate working water and anyone working or travelling -or just protecting the retirement toy they saved lifetime for -is going to stand on restricted maneuverability in a channel. If I’m wrong I apologize; it is a weird date halfway between the annual north and south migrations. But there also aren’t a lot of vacationers on the water right now.

Interesting how it comes down to yankees being the root of all evil.
When I first read the title I was picturing a big white bird swooping down and grabbing a fish off the water with its talons and the fisherman screaming at the bird because he stole the fisherman’s fish.
But I had just gotten up and didn’t have any coffee in me yet.
