Stained, mud, more mud.Left at 10:30 and headed to several redfish spots.nothing!!Went South 15 miles to what I thought would be better water WRONG!!Great day with great people but the lack of fish at least around me is terrible. One 18 inch Redfish on a minnow that was it.Saw no pushes anywhere from marker 51 to 101.Sat I will fish the Wando and hope for at least better water.
Joe, saw you run through Wadmalaw…we were drifting along the grass in Church Creek Flats…saw several trout chasing the electric chicken but no takers. We did manage a 24" red on the edge of the grass. Then back near marker 28, two small trout.

Glad you’re feelin’ better, Joe.
Wando time! When are you going? Sounds like fun.
I was crossing the JI connector this morning and right at the point where the Ashley and Wappoo cut meet there was all kinds of thrashing in the water, like 600-1000 sq feet of fish erupting. You chased them all through the cut from your hiding hole.

I have never seen the Stono this nasty in 40 years of fishing it.The water under my dock looks like chocolate.

you try that night fishing anymore, since the first attempt ??

Joe, it is not just the Stono. The South Edisto, the Toogoodoo, the Ashepoo, and all their feeders creeks are either stained or muddy. Even the incoming tide is dirtier than I can remember in six years of living on the creek. Took a ride last Saturday up the South Edisto to Willtown Landing and the water was like chocolate milk on the INCOMING tide.Plenty of bait though, but the fish have lockjaw so far this year. Hope to bust up that cycle on Saturday with the warmer temps. Take care, Mike.

At least you got out there and tried. I can’t seem to find the time to make the drive down. ANY day on the water would be a welcome change for me right now. Don’t worry Joe, you’ll get em!

Does anyone have a theory as to why the water is so muddy ?
Jack Taylor
I’ve caught about three trout in three weeks. The water in the Wando was 86 degrees on Wednesday. I only throw artificials but it sounds like the live bait guys are doing too well either.

The big full moon in the middle of the week made some big tides, that always makes the water muddy. Along with those storms early in the week. Add to that the warm water temps allows more suspended material in the water.

Larry is probably right on this. Just a convergence of all sorts of things. I’m not in the area yet (will be by Monday) but I do remember when I lived down there previously that the big tides in the summer always made Folly river look pretty mucky.
