Stono Sunday

New to saltwater fishing. Fortunate to live on the water and have a wife who kicks me out to fish. But time on the water doesnt translate to expertise -the learning curve is SLOW. Read several posts about how other newbies have cut the curve short with a guide. I cant justify the expense. I have found the members on this site to be invaluable. Thanks, in particular, to Stonoman. No amount of reading about redfish pushing or feeding or descriptions of baitfish reacting to feeding- have been too clarifying. For me at least, it took someone pointing to movement on the water and explaining it for me to recognize it for what it was. That, and a lot of other generosity and tips, got me my first red yesterday. Ill post a picture if I can figure it out. Anyway, for the report: Searched between docks on the ICW for an hour before finding a school. Water went into grass but school was against bank at grassline. Hour after high tide, 5 ZMan PaddlerZ redbone on white jighead. Lost two others on Carolina with frozen shrimp and half crab. Thanks you.

Well done, the hard work and time invested doesn’t feel like anything once you land that first one. Now if you are anything like the rest of us, you will forever be chasing that feeling.

good work…

you’re doomed to a life of daydreaming at work, riding over the slick water, calling in sick to fish, and generally being a spottail addict.

congrats & welcome.

stonoman is good people.

I took that pic and liked the camera he had.Location was right across from marker 55.

Another redfish addict…welcome to the club.

You are right. Like you, I started out knowing very little about fishing down there. Many members of CF have offered sage advice and some have even taken me out and from all of that, I have learned a great deal. I am not the fisherman I want to be but I sure as heck am not the one I once was. Only time spent on the water will get me to the point that I want to be.

its good that you know how to look for the movement in the water. Now comes the frustrating part, where you find spots and they just sit on the bottom and you can’t even tell they are there.

Nice red. You will addicted for life.

Congratulations on what will hopefully be the first of a lifetime of spottails.

Great report BTW, (time, place, bait, etc.). They should all be that way.
