The tide was right for catching bait shrimp yesterday afternoon, so off the the river I went. Worked my *ss off for appx. 18 shrimp. I corked a creek bank to the tune of 6 trout in about 1 1/2 hrs. Only one tickled the 14" mark. Switched to plastic to compare to live bait and only had one bite. When he came off, I remembered that I hooed up on some oysters the last time that lure was in the water and sure enough the point was bent over. Anyway, it was nice to see some trout. I seem to have trouble finding a reliable bait shrimp spot in the Limehouse, Wadmalaw or Younges Island areas. It seems it has to be near dead low tide and sometimes I catch a bunch easily, sometimes it’s one per throw like yesterday. If anyone is willing to graciously let me in on a more reliable bait shrimp spot I would really appreciate it. I would also let you in on my crabbing spot that truly is a honey hole.
Thanks, O.C.
