Stono Tues 5/6/14 Evening

Fished outgoing tide on the Johns Island banks of the Stono from the curve at Buzzard’s Roost to about a mile or two upriver. Water temp in the 70s.

Just putted up the banks until I’d see a creek mouth or water pushing, and I’d post up see what would bite. After 20 minutes without action I’d move up to the next spot.

Tried a ZMan Houdini scented Paddlerz on a weighted hook and a Pearl Blue Glimmer on a red Jighead. Both on a couple foot fluoro leader. No action for either. I also threw the cast net a bunch of times to see if I could score some live bait for a Carolina Rig, I saw 'em coming at me but just couldn’t hit 'em. I’m getting better at the pancakes, but not good on distance.

When the sun started getting low I buzzed the Edgewater Park docks and up the cut. Same baits, no action. Though I did see a fella in a little creekboat reel in a nice big red. He looked like he knew what he was doing.

Another beautiful evening on the Stono. Can’t complain about not catching as it sure beats not fishing.

Cheers from your consistently fishless friend, I’ll figure it out one of these days.
