My wife and I were both off, so we took advantage of the day and fished the Stono/Wadmalaw areas. Started out at 8am netting some shrimp then off to Wadmalaw sound. Our first stop didn’t get us any fish but we did see something neither of us have seen before…two bald eagles attacking a ■■■■■ of ibises! Each of the Eagles was able to separate an ibis from the ■■■■■, chase it down and grab it, taking it to a nearby dock for some de-feathering and devouring!!! Quite a site to see!!
The rest of the day was spent bringing in an occasional trout, all of which were just short of 14". They seem to be getting a little longer each time we catch one. Also, brought in some under the slot reds. Then finally were able to put a 16" and 23" red in the cooler for dinner. Lots of bait-stealers (pinfish) out there as well!
Trout were caught near the edges of grass on shrimp under a float. The reds were caught mostly on cut mullet on a carolina rig and a couple on minnows.
water temps in the 75-77 degree range. All were caught on the rising tide and then just as the tide started to fall. No camera so no pix.
