you know how i know this?cause i was in it swimming after a barge went by and the waves hit the canoe just right,and my son decided right at that instant to shift around to cast in another direction.next thing i know i was flying backwards thru space into the water.my son can swim real well and we were in shallow water,so he came right up and grabbed the canoe which was completely swamped.meanwhile i was in about 6 ft of water a ways from the canoe looking for my glasses,which i found after about 15 or 20 seconds.i got back to the canoe and realized both fishing rods and my small tackle tray was gone.my son realized something was attached to his leg,and when he pulled the line up both fishing rods were tangled to it.so,i saved my falcon/shimano trout rod thankfully.after about 15 minutes of bailing we got back in the canoe,finished bailing with the sponge and went back to the landing.by the way-no fish today,notta.gotta replace all my grubs/jigs/etc.-atleast nobody got hurt.
it was just a small plastic box with jigheads,and saltwater assassins in it,no big deal.thankfully i didnt have my big box,although i wouldnt have lost it…it floats.
anyway…this is a blessing in disguise.i may not be far off getting my new yak native watercraft ultimate 14.5:smiley:
the wife thinks the canoe is dangerous now.
I am glad that the situation wasn’t any worse. Glad to see some father & son time out but an unfortunate day.

This is the reason why I quit fishing out of Limehouse. I can only fish on the weekends and thats when everyone is on the water. I plan on scouting out some quiter waters this year. Hope to see you on the water when you get the new yak.
please dont believe the waves caused the accident.this wasnt the case.my son reacted to the wave in the worse way he could have.he leaned directly toward it.the weight distribution went to shat all at once.the rest was history.i caught 2 of the biggest trout i have ever caught in that area today.i will be back there for sure.sorry you wont be joining me sometime fishfofun.i enjoyed fishing with you last summer.
Willy. I say that I don’t like going there, but i know when I see reports about the reds and trout being caught in there I will be back. I will definately see you on the water out there.
