Stick it in a pool noodle and lay it on the deck wherever you think it will ride the best.

Get a 4-5’ stick of 3/4’ pvc with cap glued on one end. Attach to sides of gunnels with conduit straps mounted at a 45. Just slide the rod in to store it.

x2 on the pool noodle. We actually use 2 short sections of pipe insulator -there are a few more size choices and they have a perforated seam to split open. Find the size that still holds tight to the anchor while split open. We have a Carolina, too, and when we take the sections off, they fit nicely on the console/windscreen rail (the reason for split sections). If you make the upper section a bit longer, keep it threaded over the D-ring as well for less rattling. Finally, tie off the throwline from the D-ring to a cleat forward of where it lies on the deck so it stays put underway.
