What is the best way to store curtains. Would it be best to just leave on boat year round or take on and off. I know in the past on my old boat I took them off over the winter and when I tried to put them back they would not fit but I don’t want to ruin my new ones by leaving in the weather all year. Was wondering how some of you took care of yours.

The trick is to get them clean and out of the sun.
If you have a good cover, you can clean them and cover the top can curtains with a breathable cover (Sunbrella, Weathermax, etc.).
Otherwise, we recommend cleaning them carefully, drying them with a chamois, taking them off, laying them flat (if you have the room) or rolling them loosely (as large a diameter as you have room to store them, even use a clean cotton towel between the layers in the roll) and storing them in a dry, dark place.
Be very careful of cleaners and chemicals, as many (especially suntan lotion) will damage the vinyl. You can use Strataglass Protective Cleaner (http://www.csctextiles.com/Imar-Pro.htm) or the Bio-Kleen Qwik Shine (http://www.biokleen.com/spray-wax) mentioned in the article above.
We pull our Spray-Shield off when we tow - no need to beat it to death and cover it with oils, bugs and road grime, which can permanently damage your clear vinyl.
Why did the curtains on your prior boat not fit after the winter?
Thanks, Captain Ross

Thanks for the advice. As far as my old curtains not fitting, seemed like they shrunk a couple inches.
They shouldn’t shrink, but I have seen some become so old and stiff that they won’t go on any more.
For future reference, here is the advice we give on Clear-Vinyl (Spray-Shields, Gull-Wings, Side and Aft Curtains): http://rnr-marine.com/Maintenance.shtml#Clear-Vinyl
We clean and hang our curtains when not in use.

If its cool (like it is now), the Clear Vinyl will shrink a bit … shrinkage… try it when its warmer … its not permanent.
Pretty Hydra-Sport by the way - factory canvas?
