I like to tie up several leaders before fishing and sometimes have extras when I get back home. How is the best way to store them for the next trip and keep them from getting tangled.
I like to tie up a jigs head on a short leader, float rigs with live bait hook and one with a DOA, and Carolina rigs. Just don’t know what to do with them until the next trip.
You should check out the rig bags from Fishizzle tackle. I have one to keep all of my bottom rigs, skirt rigs, small trolling lures, etc in and it’s fantastic. It’s padded and has about 25 or 30 small bags in it for different leaders. It’s one thing that’s always in my tackle bag when I leave the marina.
I take about a 12"x5" piece of cardboard, and wrap individual leaders around it, maybe take some scissors and cut a notches to help keep the line in place and dig the barb of the hook somewhere in the cardboard.
I do what stinkedippa does but I use the plastic cardboard (corex) as it will last forever and stays rigid. I’m not sure I am worthy of a fancy rig like Rap showed.
I like to take a peice of PVC, cap one end and drill holes for hooks and cut slots in the other end, sand them nice and smooth and use that to hold them. Keeps them straight, organized and easy to remove and put on. of courswe this will take up some room but I don;t usually have a ton of them… Just another idea to mull over…
Thanks guys, great ideas. I have used storage bags in my fishing bag for leaders for a while now. I like the idea of a bag to store them in separate from everything else. Also like the idea of the cardboard for storing them on too.
