Went out this morning to the harbor to hit a few sheepshead spots about 8 am. The weather actually cooperated for us till about 1230, then it started getting pretty dicey. Hit one sheepshead spot and nabbed a few very short fish, and of course, lost a ton of fiddlers.
Spot 2 was much more productive- got 5 keepers and threw back 2 of them to steal bait another day. All in all, we probably boated 12 or so.
On the way home, we were pretty much surrounded by big storms. We pulled into one of our favorite flounder spots. Worked a mud minnow across the bottom for 10 mintues or so, then the deluge started- luckily the t top helped! When the storm came, I put my rod in the rod holder and let the minnow just stay on the bottom. I looked back about 10 min later, and the line was in a completely different place. Started reeling slowly and realized I had a 17 inch flounder on the line. Faced the stinging rain on the boat ride back, but ended the day with a beer and cleaned the boat and fish.
Great day dodging storms!
