Started in 170 feet and 68.5 degree water trolled out to 300 and the water temp dropped to 66.5. Lots of scattered weeds and fliers. Lost a phin on the way back. Pushed out farther And found a weed line. Had five rods go off at once. Ended up with 14 dolphin and headed in at 1:30. Every color and head style combination worked. Seas were 3 to 6 feet offshore with much harder winds than expected. Ride in was no fun, 3 feet at 3 seconds. Got stopped for the second time this year in the shipping channel by DNR for a random safety/fish check. Highlight of the day for me was watching a mystery fish spool a TLD 25 in about 5 seconds.
that mystery fish was most likely a wahoo. maybe a tuna. you are a brave soul to be in a 22ft boat with one motor in 3-6 foot waves. i dont go out when its like that in a 45’ sport fisher.
DNR stopped us as well and said they had been checking people. After showing them our fish boxes I asked how everybody else they did and they said a few here and there, but one boat with 14. obviously you all.

DNR and coastys have been out in full force, seems like. I run Freedom Boat Club and have had someone stopped almost every day for the past couple weeks.
Any man that doesn’t know how to catch a fish, shouldn’t disgrace a fish, by catching it.
