Per Boat US FAQ website.

Boat covered up to the coverage owner purchased. Does not need to be onboard.

Kudo’s Semper!

The vessel owner was not a member. The other people on board were not members. The membership belonged to the father (not on board) of a passenger on board. A BoatUS membership covers the member on any boat that they own, Borrow, rent. If a member is on someone else’s boat with the owner, the owner of that vessel is required to have a membership. TowBoat US was providing services for its members with heavy call volume, especially as the weather deteriorated that afternoon. We are not obligated to service anyone and everyone that calls for service. There are many factors that towers (and the USCG) take into consideration before launching, especially 50 NM offshore. In addition, fees for service are not always accepted. The USCG towed this vessel which is outside their normal protocol but for whatever reason (probably weather because it went to crap) they chose to do so. We were NOT the only towing company that was contacted and didn’t provide service. If you go on a boat, especially offshore, be prepared. That includes having towing coverage

50 miles offshore with no radio and no towing insurance? Money can buy a boat but not common sense i guess.

Amazing variety. Nice work.
