strange morning

I went out with striper tom this morning. we started at the towers around 6:30am. we and everybody else marked plenty of fish between 40-80ft. there must have been at least 10-13 boats. one boat had two and another had one. the fish had lockjaw. we gave it up around 10:30. myself and tom figured that we would have our limit by then but heck; we only had one pull down and that was on a free line gar fish that tom halfway brought to the boat. oh well; still was good to get out and have a few laughs. maybe next trip.

It was a very strange morning, I have never marked so many fish without a pull down. I didn’t even bring in one marked bait. The fish appeared to be active. Even saw them come up and look at baits, only to turn back and go down. Saw a huge striper hit the surface, which is why I threw out the freeline. Glad I did since that was my only hit. We left the towers for about an hour of more and fished over some fish on some deep points around Jakes, marked some fish there too without hits.

On another note, I crossed over the dam Saturday night about 9:30. It was a very heavy downpour with lightning. There were two or three boats sitting out by the towers, that is hardcore there.

Tom,

Well, misery loves company! I fished this morning with friends near Goat and Pine Island, and there were as many fish under the boat, as I’ve ever seen. However, we had 6 pull downs and landed one 23" fish.

Wow Rick, that makes me feel better. I would have liked to have been there when they turned on.
