Striper and cats

Just an update since not to many post on this area. Last week I fished for four hours at night for stripers, had three bites…The water is VERY low right now. The next day I tried trolling for them, but my depth finder screwed up so I was unable to stay in the channel. Soooo we moved on down to the tail race for cats. Same thing here, used finger mullet , worms, and shrimp. Not even a bite. Pulled the boat out and called it quits. P.S. they were not drawing water…

I tried night fishing for cats back in the early Fall and didn’t hardly have any action other than what seemed to be a gar. This was a spot I’ve caught them on nearly every cast within a couple minutes of it hitting the water… many times. Something very not-good has ruined the catfishing.

matt im pretty sure i had about 10 different gar hit my cut bait that night!

How do you know they were 10 DIFFERENT gar lol???

Either way, I’m going to be trying cats again when the weather warms up. Gotta put something in the freezer!!!

You don’t have to wait until the weather warms up, they’ll bite now. They’re probably a lot shallower than many people might think.

Waiting for the weather to warm up because I take my 4 year old son with me when day fishing.
