My father used to take me striper fishing in Multrie in the early 70’s.
I would love to take him back in my boat and have a good day.
Used to put in a Atkins and get bait there too. fish the dam, with live bait.
Can you still get live bait there have things chagned much, would love to take him back I bet he would enjoy the memories.
We had an old larson with a 65 hp Mercury and go snag bait at the dam before putting lines out and eating vienna I still hate thoes thing.

Right now, the striper bite is off! At least in my recent trips. You have to go to Santee Cooper and get a bait fish permit in order to catch bait inside the buoys at the dam. But, now you can only fish for bait around the dam, they will not let you fish inside the buoys. Pretty stupid if you ask me! Good luck! The bite will hopefully turn on in the near future…
BTW, my last trip was last Friday night. I didn’t mark any fish or see any bait around the dam area. I didn’t see any bait until I trolled past Navy Point. It was everywhere out in the middle of the lake.

Fished sunday night, caught some bait at the ■■■■. Last throw with the cast net a stiper ended up in it poor guy, released very quickly. Ended up with 2 blues before we got rained out. Nice calm night out on the lake.
i would imagine the stripers are beginning their spawning run into the rivers about now.

Last year I slayed them around this time of year.
It might have been closer to mid March now that I think of it. I am hoping for another run like that this year. Of course, each year is different though…
