Matthew, try blue back herring in the lake… slow , and I do mean SLOW, troll them on free lines… or drift with the breeze… use planer boards, if you have them, to get more lines out to the side… from Jakes Cove to Beaverdam Creek area and around the islands… if that doesn’t work, cut bait with the boat anchored, near Big Gap at Dreher Is… hope that this helpes and no one is upset about giving up any " secrets"… gary watters

Thanks Gary…Kermit/Matthew and I will be heading out of Lake World a little after 6pm. We needed the help after only picking up a couple cats last week behind Eastman on the Congaree. Ya’ll take care and save us a few…I would hate for him to make the drive down from Raleigh and come up short on fish. God Bless, Brian Herring

Thanks very much Gary. I really appreciate the advice, and if anyone gets mad about helping out a fellow fisherman then they’re doing it for the wrong reasons. Anyway, I’ll be looking forward to a good weekend. Let ya’ll know on monday how it goes. Take care.

Well Friday night we went down to the Congaree but Kermit didn’t get in to Columbia until late so we just went from 12-2am. Not only did we not catch anything near the locks just above the landing at Old State, but when we got back my jeep had been broken into and two of my Championship Rings from Winthrop were stolen. I know I was stupid to leave them in the Jeep, but I had an interview and forgot I left them in the lock box. Things got better Saturday night though. Kermit enjoyed his time a few beers, dinner at Lake Murray Marina, and I enjoyed about 40lbs of Catfish and Stripers. LOL Poor Kermit weighed in with about an 8 ounce catfish. Sorry bud I had to get one more jab in about it 
Oh by the way Kermit just a reminder that your now out of your 20s as of Monday, and that makes you a good bit older then me What was that about The Old Man and The Lake Murray? Anyhow great trip Saturday night and can’t wait to go again. Anyone wants to go Friday let me know. I plan on taking the day off, and would love the company. Even better if the company is a girl…5’0-5’10…110-130lbs…looks of a VS model in a sweet southern bell:) If not I’ll settle for a good ole boy to shoot the crap with while we reel’em in.
